The Horrific Results of the Affliction of Affluence

“Therefore He brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans who slew their young men with the sword in the house of the sanctuary, and had no compassion on young man or virgin, old or infirm. He gave them all into his hand.” -2 Chronicles 36:17
Sheik Rashid bin Al Maktoum, who brought Dubai into great economic success, was once asked about the future of his country. He had this to say,[1] “My grandfather rode a camel, my father rode a camel, I ride a Mercedes, my son rides a Land Rover, and my grandson is going to ride a Land Rover, but my great-grandson is going to have to ride a camel again.” Why is that, he was asked? His reply, “Hard times create strong men, strong men create easy times. Easy times create weak men, weak men create difficult times. Many will not understand it, but you have to raise warriors, not parasites.”

“The historical reality is that all great empires, the Babylonians, the Persians, the Greeks, the Trojans, the Egyptians, and the Romans all rose and perished within two hundred and forty years. They were not conquered by external enemies, they rotted from within. America has now passed the two hundred and forty year mark, and the rot is starting to be visible and is accelerating in America. We are past the Mercedes and Land Rover years. . . the camels are on the horizon. The greatest generation consisted of eighteen year old young men storming the beaches of Normandy, and now, two generations later, some eighteen year old kids want to hide in safe rooms when they hear words that hurt their feelings. They also want free stuff from the government because they think they are entitled to it. The camels are on the horizon.”
