Satanic Temple Installs Satanic Holiday Display in Illinois Capitol Building

By Milton Quintanilla - Posted at Christian Headlines: Published 12.23.2021 A new Satanic holiday display inside the state capitol building of Illinois has sparked protests from a Catholic group, who argues that such installations should not be allowed in the capitol building or any public space. The display, which was placed inside the capitol's rotunda on Monday, portrays the deity Baphomet laying in a make-shift crib as an infant, an image similar to the birth of Christ. According to members of the Satanic Temple of Illinois, the piece is "a display of positive values," such as plurality, unity, compassion, and empathy. "The Capitol welcomes a diverse range of religions every year to display holiday statues during the holiday season, so we wanted to join in on that," Satanic Temple of Illinois Minister Adam said. Illinois Gov. J.B. Prtizker Lifts All Restrictions on Churches After Christians Take Him to Supreme Court

By Steven Ertelt - Posted at Life News: Less than four hours before the deadline for Gov. J.B. Prtizker to file his response to the U.S. Supreme Court to the emergency injunction request brought by two Romanian churches, the governor unilaterally removed all restrictions on churches and houses of worship. Within a few hours yesterday after two Romanian churches filed an emergency injunction pending appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, Justice Kavanaugh ordered Gov. Pritzker to respond by 8:00 p.m. Thursday night. Just before the deadline, Gov. Prtizker issued “ guidelines ” for houses of worship, none of which are mandatory. Liberty Counsel represents Elim Romanian Pentecostal Church and Logos Baptist Ministries. The guidelines are only suggestions and contain no legally enforceable requirements whatsoever. The governor is no longer imposing his draconian 10-person limit on church services. Continue reading... See also: Ill. Releases Replaces Mandatory Restrictions With Voluntary Guidel

'New evidence of Illinois religious discrimination'

https://surburg.blogspot.com/ By Pastor Mark Surburg - Posted at Surburg's Blog: Evidence shared by the Rev. Timothy Scharr, President of the Southern Illinois District of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod demonstrates that Gov. Pritzker’s decision not to include church services among “essential activities” was an intentional act of discrimination. President Scharr, along with the presidents of the Central Illinois District (the Rev. Mark Miller) and Northern Illinois District (the Rev. Dr. Allan Buss) of the LCMS sent the following letter to Gov. Pritzker in April arguing that churches should be included among “essential activities.” Their reasonable and well stated request was ignored. ____________________________ 17 April 2020 The Honorable J.B. Pritzker, Governor 207 State House Springfield, IL 62706 Dear Governor Pritzker, Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ, the crucified, risen and returning Lord! The nearly 500 congregations of

Ill. Governor Signs Bill Into Law Requiring Students to Be Taught About Historical Contributions of Homosexuals

By Heather Clark - Posted at Christian News Network: SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Democratic governor of Illinois has signed a bill into law that requires curriculum for public school students to include information on the contributions of those throughout history who identified as homosexual or transgender. J.B. Pritzker signed House Bill 246 , sponsored by Rep. Anna Moeller, D-Elgin, on Friday. It will go into effect in July 2020. “In public schools only, the teaching of history shall include a study of the roles and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in the history of this country and this state,” the legislation reads. “Textbooks authorized to be purchased … must include the roles and contributions of all people protected under the Illinois Human Rights Act.” Continue reading...

The Green Wave

iB2 News By Meredith Flynn - Posted at iB2 News : Legal pot use will be a growing challenge for Illinois churches When Illinois lawmakers legalized recreational marijuana in June, many lauded the fulfillment of one of Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s campaign promises, and the potential for millions in tax revenue to aid the financially ailing state. Others, like Pastor Steve Ohl, grieved the decision’s potential impact on Illinoisans. Ohl is the pastor of First Baptist Church in Greenview; he also leads an addiction support group. “When I was into drugs and alcohol, there was a void in my heart and I was trying to fill it anyway I could,” the pastor said. Ohl urged pastors to recognize many people in their pews and communities are struggling to fill their own heart-voids, and the road to recovery will probably be harder with easier access to pot. Illinois becomes the 11th state to legalize both recreational and medical marijuana use on January 1, 2020, so now is the time to look t

Heads Up Illinois Parents

By Angela Wittman In 1994 I was elected to our local school board on an explicitly Christian platform. Our greatest concerns (I'm referring to my Christian friends and supporters) was Goals 2000 (Outcome Based Education), Comprehensive Sex Ed and the general intolerance of Christianity. I served until the spring of 1999 and did not seek re-election due to the lack of support from my husband. Looking back I think he saw the physical toll the constant stress was taking on me. I also remember the ridicule my teenage sons saw directed toward their mother by the head of the local teachers union who was also their biology teacher; I felt a duty to resist the potential wickedness I believed was headed our way if we did not draw a line in the sand against unrighteousness as an administrative body. But I never thought I would be sitting here 19 years later warning Illinois parents that legislation was being proposed that would mandate schools to teach children LGBT history. Here is an

Affirm LGBT lifestyles, foster care workers ordered

By Diana Chandler - Posted at Baptist Press : Illinois foster care workers are required to inform LGBT youth of legal rights of "self-determination" regarding gender identity and sexuality, the policy states, opening the door to legal recourse. CHICAGO (BP) -- Foster care workers and families in Illinois must allow gay and transgender youth to express and explore their chosen gender identity and sexual orientation, according to a new state governmental directive. Termination is among the penalties workers with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) would face for violating the policy, the DCFS said in its new rules added May 11 as Appendix K to the state foster care policy manual. "Staff may not impose personal, organizational or religious beliefs on [lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender] children, youth and families, and in no way should personal beliefs impact the way individual needs of children/youth or families are met," the

Christian Citizenship: Essential truth Christians might not learn in their local Church

By Angela Wittman My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. - Hosea 4:6 While reviewing and updating some previous posts, I came across a teaching on Christian citizenship that I believe is an essential lesson many Christians might not have access to. Let me begin by sharing the setting I was in when receiving this lesson: I was part of a Bible study that had begun as a possible OPC church plant in my local community. When we found there was not enough local interest in the OPC, we continued the study under the leadership of Pastor Ray Morton of the Sparta (Illinois) Reformed Presbyterian Church (RPCNA). At the time I was also very politically active and serving as an officer in the Constitution Party of Illinois.  I had always believed Christians should be "salt and light" in the community, including civil matte
