Elon Musk, Conservatives, And Fatherlessness

"According to some people on the Right, fatherlessness isn’t a major problem so long as the deadbeat absentee father is Elon Musk and the mother is a popular conservative."
This past weekend, conservative commentator Ashley St. Clair announced that she had a baby with Elon Musk 5 months ago. Many influencers on the Right congratulated Ashley St. Clair and suggested that instead of being criticized, she should be commended for not aborting the baby.

I probably wouldn’t say “congratulations” to a woman who gets pregnant after sex outside of marriage. Not because it’s unjustified, but because it’s insufficient. All children are worthy of celebration, but I think saying “congratulations”—especially on social media—could send the wrong message.

I know a young woman whose sexual sin led to a pregnancy. When she told me the news, I didn’t say “congratulations.” I think I offered her better words. I said something like, “God has blessed you. He hasn’t punished you. He has responded to your sin with grace.”
