Elon Musk’s X Updates Privacy Policy: Collects ‘Biometric Info’ and Job History

Elon Musk’s platform, X, has revealed plans to collect “biometric information” from users as part of a new security feature within its premium subscription plan, priced at $8 per month.

Formerly known as Twitter, the platform sent notifications to users on Wednesday, urging them to review the updated policy, effective from September 29. The revised policy includes explicit details about the collection of personal data, including employment history.

With user consent, the privacy policy explains that “we may collect and utilize your biometric information for safety, security, and identification purposes.”

Additionally, the policy outlines X’s potential use of personal data such as job history, education background, job preferences, skills, job search activity, and interactions. This information could be used to suggest job opportunities, share data with potential employers during job applications, help employers find suitable candidates, and display more relevant ads.
